For the last few days, Manchester United manager has been teasing Manchester United fans, football fans and media about the supposed surprise striking option for his team after the departures of Robin Van Persie and Radamel Falcao.
There has been a lot of speculation about who the mystery option could be with everyone from Fernando Llorente to Bruno from Renford Rejects mentioned.
Now though, Van Gaal has moved to address the secrecy by adding yet another layer of mystery surrounding the already mysterious scenario. The secret striker isn't actually a striker!
Not even the script-writers of Fair City, WWE or M. Night Shyamalan could have written a twist like that.
Van Gaal says now that with Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson and Depay as options he doesn't need another out and out striker:
I don't know if I want to buy a striker. I have read in the media a striker is the surprise. That's not what I said. I mean something else.
