Like most things with Manchester United this season, it wasn't pretty. But they did what they set out to do, and in Jose's Mourinho's first season, they've won two competitions and qualified for the Champions League.
It was a very comfortable 2-0 win over a young Ajax team who possibly succumbed to a bit of stage fright in Stockholm tonight.
Firstly, a reminder that tonight was bigger than football, as evidenced by a lovely touch from a bitter rival.

Nice moment there as United fans belted out a chorus of 'Manchester, Manchester, Manchester' before the end.

For United fans, it was a much needed shot in the arm tonight. At least for one night, they felt back where they belonged.
Celebrations beginning in Stockholm... @ChampionsLeague football will be returning to OT! Get in @ManUtd 🏆👊🏽 #UELfinal pic.twitter.com/S7kxovmikt

Far from ecstatic but it really feels good to win something again. Hope this Europa League is our 1st and last. Let's never play in it.

Stroll in Stockholm....easy peasy and a bit boring

It was a night of vindication for José Mourinho, winning his fourth European trophy in his first season at United.
Whatever Jose Mourinho's critics may say, two trophies and a place in next season's Champions League is a successful season #UELfinal #MUFC pic.twitter.com/cJXYN5YlOW

Two trophies and a place in the Champions League. I don't suppose Mourinho will be too worried about any critics all the same

Jose Mourinho gesturing towards the United execs in the stands as if to say "that's the first one".

Considering the pressure and everything, that was masterful from Mourinho. Been sceptical but that was old school Mourinho.

Two trophies won & Champions League qualifications! Can't complain, just need more entertainment next season! #mufc

There was also a lot of love for Wayne Rooney who was brought on with the game over in the 90th minute. Was his last action in a United jersey lifting the cup?
Rooney! what a fantastic servant he has been! #MUFC #UELfinal

TAKE A BOW WAZZA....you have served MUFC well. I've seen many class acts come and go, you deserve much more recognition than you've had. 👏🏻😘

Tonight's celebrations were the focus for some...
The dance-floors of Stockholm aren't ready for Pogba and Lingard tonight. I hope they have dab insurance.

Of course, this result might buy his replacement.
Are you 10/10 now @AntoGriezmann?

Nothings makes a victory sweeter than a needless dig at your rivals.
Mourinho has won more trophies in the last 10 months than Liverpool in the last 10 years. What a manager #MUFC

Well done United. There'll be five Premier League teams in next year's Champions League.
