Manchester United descended into a state of mourning over the weekend when it was announced that Bobby Charlton had passed away at the age of 86.
A bonafide legend at Old Trafford, he was viewed by many as the epitome of what it meant to be a United player. He was a remarkable performer on the pitch, leading the team to numerous honours during his 17-years as a first team player. Of course, he was also a survivor of the Munich Air Disaster that saw many of his teammates tragically lose their lives.
The way in which his career prospered in the aftermath of that incident is without doubt one of the most uplifting in the game. Charlton also conducted himself immaculately off the pitch, something that continued when he acted a Manchester United ambassador later in life.
With what he meant to everyone at the club, there was always going to be some emotional scenes at Old Trafford ahead of the club's first home game after his passing.

The supporters at Old Trafford started off with some wonderful chants of 'there's only one Bobby Charlton' ahead of kick-off, before a lone pipe man led Erik ten Hag, former United teammate Alex Stepney, and Manchester United youth player Dan Gore onto the pitch to lay a wreath on the centre circle.
Gore is the most recent youth player to make his first team debut for the club, a path Bobby himself went down in the past.
It was a poignant moment, one that was greeted with loud applause before then entering into a moment's silence.
