Manchester United may be on a decent run of form in the Premier League at the moment, but it's clear that they have fallen short of expectations this season.

Some of their results have been very poor, especially in the Champions League. As well as that, some of those recent wins in the league against poor opposition have been achieved in spite of some very average performances.

They still have plenty of time to turn things around over the months ahead, although Erik ten Hag will no doubt be concerned with the current makeup of his squad. The manager himself has played a part in that, with a number of his signings failing to meet expectations up to this point.

As it turns out, some of those signings could already be shipped out of Manchester United as soon as next summer.

Manchester United hoping to offload 15 players next summer

The Daily Star are reporting that Manchester United will look to offload as many as 15 players next summer, some of whom had arrived at the club for big fees in recent years.

The likes of Jadon Sancho and Antony are on that list, two players who were signed for fees in excess of £75million. Raphael Varane is also included after his dreadful form this season, as is fellow centre back Jonny Evans.

Mason Greenwood is expected to be sold next summer after his loan spell at Getafe ends, with Anthony Martial another forward header for the exit door. Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguillon, both of whom arrived on loan last summer, are unlikely to be signed on a permanent basis.

Donny van de Beek and Tom Heaton are also likely to leave in 2024. Brandon Williams, Alvaro Fernandez, Shola Shoretire, Will Fishand, and Joe Hugill are among the fringe squad members set to depart.

That would be quite the clear out, with some of those players above having arrived at Manchester United with massive expectations.

Considering the wages the club have paid out in recent times, it will be no easy task to get all of them off the books.
