Manchester United are the latest club to be linked with Jeff Hendrick after the Irish midfielder left Burnley at the end of last month.
The 28-year-old looked destined for Italian shores, with the likes of AC Milan and Roma rumoured to be interested, but according to Football Insider he could find himself staying in the Premier League and perhaps playing Champions League football next season.
They say that a United source has confirmed to them that club is monitoring the situation and that the fact Hendrick can play in multiple positions and is available on a free transfer has piqued their interest.
Hendrick's ability to slot in anywhere across a midfield three or in the hole behind a frontman certainly would suit United's set-up at the moment.
As transfer rumours go, this is the most intriguing one we've had for an Irish player in quite some time and - if memory serves correctly - the first involving one of the traditional big English clubs since Shane Duffy was linked with Arsenal a couple of summers ago. However, we're holding out judgement on its veracity until we hear more.
The plot thickens.
