It's all change in the goalkeeping department at Manchester United. With Louis van Gaal and Victor Valdes not seeing eye-to-eye at the moment, the likelihood is that the Spaniard is on his way out. That's off the back of the long-term chasing of David de Gea from Real Madrid.
It seems prudent then that United should try and bolster their goalkeeping stocks before its plundered. They've been linked to the likes of Hugo Lloris, but it seems that they have their eye on a free transfer move for a goalkeeper that played in the World Cup final.
Argentine keeper Sergio Romero is available on a free transfer after spending last season on loan at Monaco. Romero has a history with van Gaal after playing under him at AZ Alkmaar, and Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who works for Sky Italia, is reporting that United have leapfrogged Roma to become favourites to sign Romero. According to Di Marzio, United are offering Romero a higher salary, and things could be wrapped up soon.
