We're nearing the closing of the transfer window and Manchester United fans are in poor humour today. This morning, Christian Eriksen made it perfectly clear that he has not interest in a move to United. It leaves the United midfield looking very thin. Herrera and Fellaini are gone. Matic is in poor form. Question marks linger around Fred, McTominay and Perreira.
It now seems increasingly likely that Manchester United won't be signing another midfielder and this morning Rob Dawson of ESPN has reported that Solskjaer is 'comfortable with that scenario'. United have definitely shored up their defense over the summer but they look likely to again be overrun in the midfield. As is normal these days, Man United fans on Twitter today are not pleased with Ed Woodward.
This summer isn’t a failure because we’ve bought in a superb right-back and a very good centre-back and leader. But without bringing in a midfielder, it’s just another top-four battle.
Both Fellaini and Herrera departed, so we’ve got weaker. Matić a year older too. Eurgh.— Jordan (@FourFourJordan) August 7, 2019
So Manchester United have no replacement for Lukaku, no replacement for Ander Herrera and Fellaini, Ashley Young is club captain and no player has been sold yet. #MUFC pic.twitter.com/K0aUJJtlC8
