Bearing in mind the Civil War that permanently rages in this country between the supporters of Manchester United and Liverpool, we hasten to add that supporters of many clubs have indulged in this sort of behaviour.
No club can boast a monopoly in this field.
Manchester United fans have often been serenaded by aeroplane noises and the like.
When Matt Busby died in 1994, Leeds fans jeered and hollered through the minute silence, a display which visibly sickened Gordon Strachan, among others.
Tonight, Man United fans were heard to chant about the Hillsborough disaster. Their point of view was that Kelvin McKenzie may have been vindicated in his account of the events of April 1989.
'The Sun was right' was their considered viewpoint. Supporters of both clubs were quick out of the blocks in condemning the chants.
Manchester United fans let themselves down spectacularly with that chant. Plenty of saddened head shaking in the press box.

Can't believe some of the fans singing about Hillsborough. Gives other United fans a bad name.

Anyone singing about either tragedy associated to either club i’m doesn’t represent majority of fans or clubs themselves. Simple.

Who knows what Denis Irwin, Gary Pallister and Andy Cole, standing in the United end, made of this obscene display?
