Flags flew at at half mast at Manchester City's Carrington training ground yesterday following the death of beloved club servant Wimblydon. Thirteen years ago, the stray cat wandered into reception one day at the exact moment fitness coach Juan Carlos Osario was trying to pronounce Wimbledon. And thus the cat was named.
In those thirteen years, Manchester City estimate their feline employee caught 200 mice around Carrington, ate 7,000 sachets of food and drank more than 100 litres of milk, often competing with Richard Dunne at mealtimes.
Wimblydon's greatest achievement though was her ability to man manage Mario Balotelli, a task that proved beyong either Roberto Mancini or Jose Mourinho.
