Manchester United fans will not be eagerly anticipating their club's participation in the UEFA Europa League, as English sides tend to just limp out of the competition in the knockout stages having flown an inconvenient amount of miles to distract them from their weekly Premier League commitments.
However, the Europa League has at least provided some positive news regarding injured defender Luke Shaw's injury comeback, as he not been removed from the official squad which has been submitted to UEFA.
While his name being on the list doesn't in itself mean that Shaw is nearing a comeback, it does come days after a story on his progress by Kevin Palmer for Independent.ie:
Independent.ie understand that the latest medical update on Shaw is positive, with the 20-year-old making swift progress in his rehabilitation programme, with the possible date for his return now moved forward to as early as next month.
Shaw has not posted an update on his Twitter account regarding his fitness, but sources close to the player have suggested he is eyeing up a return to first team action in the final weeks of the season, which may give him a chance to push for a place in England's Euro 2016 squad.
That's bound to raise a smile from Manchester United fans, despite the surprisingly promising performances of Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (who did not need to be named in the squad due to his registration with the U21 squad) in recent weeks, as the club is still very light at the full-back position.
March would be a nice surprise, April seems a more realistic target all things considered, but it does appear that Luke Shaw will play a part before the end of the season.
