United have long been linked with move for the Everton right-back and their interest appears to have been rekindled following a couple of setbacks. Namely Liverpool being close to the signing of Nathaniel Clyne and Dani Alves putting pen to a new contract with Barcelona.

Reports during suggested Liverpool have agreed a £12.5 million deal with Southampton for Clyne while Alves signed a new two-year deal with Barca just over a fortnight ago.

Man Utd's current options at right-back include Rafael da Silva and then a number of players playing out of position.

Bringing in the Donegalman would certainly ameliorate what has been a troublesome position for Louis van Gaal.
