Man Utd Fans Are Taking The Piss After Eric Dier's "Threat" To Ander Herrera

Ander Herrea is a firm fan favourite for Manchester United supporters, so there was no surprise to see a hostile reaction when Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier hit out at the Spaniard following last night's friendly with Wembley.

Dier was upset at catching a stray elbow from the Man Utd midfielder, which sparked handbags on the pitch at Wembley, but after the game Dier was unwilling to let it go and even hinted that revenge could be on the horizon soon.

I’ve made a pass and it was a long time afterwards [that] he’s elbowed me in the face, and I just can’t see why. For me, it’s just ridiculous. So I know what he did, and I don’t like that kind of stuff. I don’t mind people kicking each other at times and stuff, but that’s just dirty and not needed.

I don’t need him to apologise. I’ll see him soon … These things happen. But I don’t know why he did it, to be honest. That’s why I was angry. It was just strange and it’s not nice.

Herrera is no angel (at least on the pitch, he seems like a great bloke off it) and it is very, very plausible that he could have popped Dier with an elbow knowing full well what he's doing, and that is what the Spurs man is suggesting took place.

But that "I'll see him soon" line when asked if he sought an apology has been picked up on by Manchester United fans, and they are giving the Spurs midfielder some awful abuse ever since.

And of course some Spurs fans believes things would go the other way:

But of course, the two players are not going to fight, and Dier will, at the most, likely "leave one in" on the Spaniard if given the chance, which goes to show how ridiculous this whole idea really is.

These are Premier League footballers we're talking about. Unlike in the UFC where people get to make threats and then actually have the chance to back it up, footballers and fighting does not mix. Boxing videos on twitter or not.
