Arsenal's head of medical services Gary O'Driscoll is moving to Manchester United, it has been reported.
The well-respected doctor, a cousin of former Ireland rugby captain Brian O'Driscoll, will make the move to Old Trafford later in the summer, according to a report in The Athletic on Friday.
Before that, Dr. O'Driscoll will stay at the Emirates to oversee a transition period and help integrate a successor.
It is stated in the publication that the Englishman wants to move closer to his family in the north-west, and that the chance to move to United proved too good to turn down.
Gary O'Driscoll seen in Amazon Documentary
O'Driscoll has worked at Arsenal since 2009, and his status at the club was made clear in Amazon Prime's All Or Nothing: Arsenal documentary, which was released last year.
In it, O'Driscoll is regularly seen working with various members of the Gunners squad, and advising manager Mikel Arteta on their fitness issues.
O'Driscoll has worked with his famous cousin before, having spent eight years with the Ireland rugby team during the 2000s.
He also joined BOD on two British & Irish Lions tours, first to New Zealand in 2005, and then to South Africa four years later.
Man United fans
Both men are lifelong Man United supporters, so Gary's move to Old Trafford is sure to be a cause of great celebration for the O'Driscoll clan.
United's new recruit will be filling a void left by Steve McNally, who left in December of last year, and was replaced on an interim basis by Jim Moxon.
Manager Erik ten Hag is sure to lean on O'Driscoll, as the Dutchman hopes to keep his players fit for their assault on the Premier League and Champions League this season.
The Red Devils will head on tour to the United States later this month, before a date with Atletic Bilbao at Dublin's Aviva Stadium on August 6th.
