Some Manchester United fans would argue that they've never properly replaced Roy Keane. Now, it appears that they're not going to properly replace Michael Carrick, who subsequently replaced Roy Keane for a while.
The Guardian are linking the Red Devils with Chelsea's Nemanja Matic in a deal reportedly worth £40m.
Matic played 35 times for Chelsea as they strolled to another Premier League title, scoring twice. But with Chelsea rumoured to be signing Frenchman Tiemoue Bakayoko, their midfield would be stacked. Matic would struggle to break past him, Fabregas and N'Golo Kanté.
The paper says that the deal should be wrapped up before United head on their pre-seaosn tour in the second week of July.
It's the second time that Mourinho has signed the Serb. He first did so back in 2014, bringing him back from Benfica for his second spell at Stamford Bridge. It makes sense that United would go after him - Michael Carrick is 36 in July.
It'd be the club's second signing of the summer window so far. Swedish defender Victor Lindelof joined from Benfica in a £30 million move a couple of weeks ago.
The papers are constantly linking United with seemingly everyone, from Cristiano Ronaldo to Alvaro Morata. The former appears on our 'Man United Done Deal' XI, but it does seem like Morata is on his way to Old Trafford.
Until it's reported as a done deal of course.
United fans are not best pleased on Twitter
Time will tell.
