The Telegraph are reporting that Manchester United are lining up veteran Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant as a back up to David De Gea and Sergio Romero. The 35-year-old was relegated with Stoke last season and is set to sign a one year deal with the Premier League runners up.
However the signing of the former England U21 international could get in the way of another goalkeeper on United's books; 22-year-old Kieran O'Hara. O'Hara joined the Red Devils in 2014, before going out on a string of loans to lower league sides and with Grant's potential move, it would place the Manchester born stopper further down the pecking order at the club.
It was already going to be difficult to break through at Old Trafford with international pedigree in front of him, but this latest development may see O'Hara explore other options as he looks to gain experience as a young goalkeeper.
O'Hara qualifies for Ireland through his paternal grandparents and has made 12 appearances for the U21 side.
Joel Pereira, another goalkeeper on United's books is set to go out on loan, the 21-year-old Portugese was the club's third choice stopper last term.
Meanwhile Manchester United's current number one David De Gea is currently undergoing some criticism in the Spanish media as rumours circulate that the 27-year-old may be dropped for Spain's round of 16 tie against Russia on Sunday.
