Manchester United look set to lose Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera on a free transfer this summer as reports continue to circulate that the 29-year-old will sign for PSG.
Herrera is out of contract at the end of the season and both Spanish outlet Marca, as well as RMC Sport, report that a deal has been agreed between the Ligue 1 side and his representatives.
The report has been poorly received by the Old Trafford faithful. Herrera is a fan favourite both for his consistency and free-talking approach to interviews. He was named Player of the Year in 2016/17.
Herrera's leadership was recently on full display when he called out Alexis Sanchez after their Champions League victory against PSG: "World-class player Alexis and the way he fought. This is Manchester United and this is what we want!"
Losing Herrera for free is bad business, no matter how you try and spin it.
However, he will be 30 at the start of the season and if he does get a 4 year deal at PSG on big wages, I can cut United a bit of slack. Being 34 on big wages isn't ideal but losing him for free is poor— ManUnitedTalk (@ManUnitedTalk) March 22, 2019
Manchester United have been working through a series of players whose contracts are expiring this summer and recently agreed deals with Ashley Young and Pihl Jones. They are yet to tie up Herrera, Juan Mata, Matteo Darmian and Antonio Valencia.
