Waterford's Ayodeji Sotona is reportedly the fastest player at Manchester United after setting the record at the club's Carrington training complex.

The academy prospect signed a contract with the club last summer and posted the news, as reported by the Daily Mail, on social media earlier today. He is said to have clocked 22.9mph, more than 1.2mph ahead of second quickest Diogo Dalot.

The 16-year-old's time puts him ahead of Marcus Rashford (22.18mph), Daniel James and Tahith Chong.

It should be noted top speed data in football should not be compared to average speed metrics from sprinting. In reality, the only real takeaway from the results is that Satona is pretty damn quick.

The attacker currently plays for the clubs U18s side and scored versus Liverpool last week. He has represented the Republic of Ireland at U16 level but is also eligible to play for England and the Mail report the FA are aware of that fact.
