The transfer window may be closed, but that doesn't seem to stop the never-ending flow of transfer gossip swirling around Manchester United.
Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo are running a story that Barcelona playmaker Xavi was considering a move to Old Trafford.
Xavi was expected to leave the Nou Camp this past summer, and apparently entertained the idea of moving to United in order to link up with Louis Van Gaal again, who gave him his debut at Barcelona.
After considering a number of offers, Xavi eventually decided to stay put, which will no doubt disappoint Manchester United fans who could have watched the imperious Spaniard dictate the midfield instead of Tom Cleverley for the first few games of this season.
