Ryan Manning enjoyed an individually promising home debut tonight but a collectively disappointing one as Rotherham United fell to a 3-2 loss against Hull City.

The former Irish U21 moved to the club for Championship rivals QPR on loan for the season, as he looks to kick on from the early promise he showed in his career. He immediately impressed, with his delivery from a corner freeing Richard Wood for an early goal.
However, a Jackson Irvine double and Frazier Campbell finish put Manning's side 3-1 down. Despite a late rally and well worked Jamie Proctor goal, the comeback faltered and Hull City took all three points.
Manning's arrival does not mean former Dundalk player Richie Towell's potential move is at an end. The Brighton man spent last year on loan at the club and a return is on the cards after a fruitful spell for player and club.
Manager Paul Warne told the Yorkshire Post they are still hopeful of securing a deal.
If I could bring him back to the club and it was possible and Brighton will allow him out, that would obviously be an option that I would investigate further.
“We have spoken to Brighton on numerous occasions in the summer, but at the moment I am not convinced it is going to happen. I am hopeful, but at the moment, I don’t honestly know.
