A man has been found guilty of headbutting former Republic of Ireland star and current Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane.

Scott Law, 43, of Waltham Abbey, Essex, had been accused of common assault following Arsenal's 3-1 victory over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium in September of last year.

Law, who is an Arsenal fan, headbutted Keane as he made his way through the stadium in order to carry out his punditry duties. The incident was widely reported in the media at the time.

Scott Law would plead not guilty to the charge of common assault. At Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court this morning, he was found guilty of the attack.

The trial saw the likes of Roy Keane and Micah Richards take to the stand to give evidence, with fellow Sky Sports pundit Richards having become involved in the incident at the time.

When on the stand, the Cork man described what had occurred on the day.

There was lots of noise and shouting as you would expect at a football match. I was just walking and before you knew it, I was hit. I felt the contact and fell back through some doors.

I was absolutely not expecting it.

The only way I can describe it is that I was in shock. I didn't expect it to happen, not when I was in my workplace.

Micah then gets hold of someone. He was just trying to get a grip of him and make sure he didn't run off. I was saying, 'Call the police.'

For about 15 or 20 seconds, Micah was holding him up against a wall [to stop] him getting away.

Arsenal would win this game in a dramatic fashion, scoring two injury time goals to secure a 3-1 victory.

Roy Keane would also reveal that he missed those final two goals in the aftermath of this incident.
