Manchester City are taking on Everton in their first home game of the season tonight, so naturally there is plenty of excitement around the club in anticipation of the match.
However, someone at the club made a bizarre decision to set off some fireworks two minutes before kick off. This was to celebrate the opening of their new 'Tunnel Club' at their first home game of the new season.
The Etihad Stadium was obscured with what looked like fog for much of the first half, which was in fact the dead smoke from the fireworks that were set off.
It was tough to see the pitch from a television screen, so being inside the stadium it may have been harder to see what was unfolding on the pitch.
It beggars belief that the Premier League do not have some sort of rules and regulations regarding pre-match entertainment:. no fireworks are allowed to be set off two minutes before a match would seem logical step to take.
Another highlight before the game was we the new addition to the Etihad stadium, 'The Tunnel Club'.
Fans of Manchester City can now become members of an exclusive area inside the stadium, beside the tunnel and to watch the players come out from their changing rooms in the tunnel.
The Tunnel Club appears to be an area where the fans can purchase food and beverage, while also taking selfies of the players in the tunnel behind a pane of glass.
We urge you to check out the Tunnel Club with your own eyes because it yet is another example of football clubs looking to extort as much money as they can from their wealthy and loyal supporters..
We are unsure how much the club costs, but check out the brochure Man City have supplied on their website here.
We know how Roy Keane would describe the City fan's in the Tunnel Club: 'Prawn sandwich brigade'.
Here is the reaction to City letting off fireworks before the game tonight below:
Ridiculous sideshow fireworks at @ManCity v @Everton. What next, dancing girls and inflatable sumo wrestlers?!? #MNF
