Manchester City are ready to - in classic transfer parlance - 'hijack' Manchester United's impending move for Argentinean winger Angel Di Maria. The Sunday Times claim today that City are exploring ways to raise the necessary cash from player sales to move Di Maria from Real Madrid's bench to their own.
City need to raise the cash to comply with UEFA's pesky Financial Fair Play rules which also seem to have prevented PSG from completing a move for a man who somehow finds himself on the fringes at Madrid despite winning the Man of the Match in Real's Champions League final win over Atletico in May.
The paper also claims that United will have to pay an eye watering £63.7m to ensure Di Maria can look annoyed at a Phil Jones pass at Old Trafford this season. Various respected scribes broke the news of United's move for Di Maria last night and many seem convinced United will get their man sometime early next week.
