Next season will reportedly see a major change to the Premier League's transfer window.
The Telegraph's John Percy reports that the 20 league members will vote next month on a proposal to move the closure of the transfer window to a week prior to the start of the 2018/19 season. A majority of the teams are apparently keen to see the move happen with Watford one of the few to oppose it.
A vote of over two thirds would see the change implemented. The January transfer window will not be affected.
This season's transfer closes on August 31st with many managers still unsure about the makeup of their squad for the coming season. For the likes of Jurgen Klopp, he would surely welcome knowing if Philippe Coutinho will be at Liverpool next month. Likewise with Swansea and Gylfi Sigurdsson and Southampton with Virgil van Dijk.
Sky Sports' Bryan Swanson reports that there are concerns that Premier League clubs could be at a competitive disadvantage compared to other European leagues which would still have the later transfer deadline.
The change will also come as welcome news to anyone playing the new Draft Fantasy Premier League. The new game - similar to the system used for Fantasy NFL - sees players each have unique teams. Considering that teams have to be drafted prior to the start of the season, a transfer window which ended three weeks later was a real wildcard element.
