A Maidenhead United player scored a goal at the weekend that has all the hallmarks of....well, not non-league, anyway.
Sometimes you forget just how good players have to be in order to make it at the top level of English football. The lower leagues are populated with players who tore it up on playgrounds and parks in their local area, bagging goals for fun and running rings around helpless kids who were just - like most of us - average.
One imagines that Dave Tarpey of Maidenhead United was one of these nippers. Tarpey scored four goals as his side beat Dartford 5-0 on Saturday to go nine points clear at the top of the National League South. But it's one of his goals in particular that has us gasping for breath.
The audacity of the first touch. The deftness of the second. The cheeky precision of the third. We daresay the little man himself would be proud of it.
