"Nothing is about that story is good" said Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show. Jason McAteer agreed. "Not for John, anyway" added the former Ireland international.
McAteer was on the Late Late to promote his autobiography - 'Blood, Sweat and McAteer: A Footballer's Story' - just released this week.
Of course, stories for his days with Ireland were told. One involved John Aldridge and what McAteer and others would do to his toothbrush.
McAteer would not disclose where exactly they would place the toothbrush. Let your imagination do the worst.
I can't tell you what I used to do too John Aldridge's toothbrush. That used to go in a place... I can't tell you.
When you're on the floor [of a hotel] all the doors are open of the rooms. You nip in and out of each others rooms and you're having a bit of a banter. You're having a mess around. You're having a good laugh and all that kind of stuff.
You used to go for a meal altogether. We used to eat our food really quick and get back down onto the floor. Tony Hickey was our security man. He used to like us sort of knew what we were up to. He'd turn a blind eye.
We'd go into John Aldridge's room and we'd get his toothbrush and it would go into a place - I can't say where it used to go. It used to go into his toothbrush holder. We'd nip in around 10 o'clock when he was brushing his teeth...
