Lyon President Uses Lacazette Link To Have A Dig At Liverpool

Everyone seems to be firing shots at Liverpool these days after an uninspiring season under Brendan Rodgers.

You would expect as much from former players, pundits, and the odd journalist, but you wouldn't really expect it from the president of one of the biggest clubs in France. Funnily enough, that's exactly who has taken this latest swipe at the Merseyside club when quizzed over rumours linking his star player with a move to Anfield.

Alexandre Lacazette has bagged 31 goals in all competitions this season and is widely regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football, so it is perhaps understandable that Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas wouldn't be happy to hear rumours that he is heading for the exit door, and happy he was certainly not:

Your information is false. Liverpool have never called us and [remind me] what European cup [they are playing in next season] and they have neither the means [to sign the player] nor the interest.

Ouch, right in the lack of European football.

On the other hand, at least by pouring cold water over the rumour directly on twitter he may save Liverpool fans the agony of another drawn out transfer saga, so at least that's a positive.
