There were exuberant scenes in the Luxembourg dressing following their victory over Ireland on Saturday night.
That was understandable. It was an upset win, just their fourth ever away from home in either World Cup or European Championship qualifiers.
Luxembourg manager Luc Holtz said he would have been happy with a draw.
"I've been satisfied in the past few games and months, but unfortunately the results weren't always right," Luxembourg Holtz told the Luxemburger Wort.
"But once again you noticed what a strong group we have. When I see how happy the team in the dressing room was, I have fun.
"I would have been satisfied with a 0-0. That we won is fantastic. And I think that the victory is not undeserved.
"There were over 30,000 spectators in the stadium during the 0-0 win against France, but unfortunately none now. But to get three points in Ireland is something special. On Sunday, people across Europe will be amazed when they read the result."
FINAL WHISTLE
Incredible result, and very well-deserved! @gerson7lux's goal proved to be the decider. It seems like 3 defenders aren't enough to defend against Gerson! Anyway, I'm proud of 🇱🇺 shutting the mouths of many arrogant Irish fans. Good job, lads 👏👏👏— Football in Luxembourg 🇱🇺 (@LuxembourgFooty) March 27, 2021
