Luton Town came away with a bittersweet 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool this evening, having nearly snatched a win, with Ireland's Chiedozie Ogbene putting in another excellent shift for the Hatters.

The Cork man was a handful down the left wing, with the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alexis Mac Allister struggling to deal with his pace and trickery.

Chiedozie Ogbene Lauded For Brilliant Showing In Liverpool Draw

On BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Premier League and Australia keeper Mark Schwarzer, summed up the winger's performance:

Chiedozie Ogbene is just such a handful every time he's got that ball.

Liverpool are having to double up on him. That time Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai both try and deal with him - they can't.

His pace is just so electric.

Liverpool, however, managed to snatch a point, with Luiz Diaz heading home in the 95th minute. The Colombian winger, whose father is currently being held captive, celebrated by showing off a t-shirt saying 'Freedom for Papa'.

Liverpool had a chance to go second in the Premier League with a victory, but instead they remain in fourth, with Luton in 17th, and two points above the relegation zone.

"I was praying for a VAR check [for the late equaliser] but it was a clean goal," Ogbene said after the game.

"You can’t fault the effort tonight. We are going in slightly disappointed we didn’t get a win against a very good Liverpool team and that is how far we have come.

“If you can’t win, don’t lose and that is what we did today. It is all about momentum. We are trying to create an atmosphere here.

"The manager said before to believe in the game plan and be patient. In this league you just have to take your moments.”
