Luke Shaw has come in for heavy criticism for his poor club form at Manchester United this season, but he didn't have much trouble switching things on for England last night. The defender would score the equaliser as he helped his side to a 2-1 victory over Switzerland at Wembley Stadium.

The fullback scored in injury time of the first half after Breel Embolo had put the Swiss ahead in the 22nd minute, while Harry Kane scored second half penalty to give England the win.

Shaw spoke to Sky Sports after the game and praised the environment England manager Gareth Southgate has created and spoke of how it has helped him find form with his national team.

The environment here that Gareth creates, you always enjoy it. I think when I come here, for me it's about enjoyment, playing games with a smile on my face and enjoying it.

I feel like here, when I come here I always do that. We all love playing for our country and when we're here we just focus on what's happening because my main focus is England at this time.

It's always important to feel like you're wanted. Especially here, I always feel that. I'm not saying I don't at United but especially here, the way things are, I feel wanted, I enjoy my football. The big part of football is enjoyment.

Of course, it's hard to enjoy it when we're losing and we're not playing well at club level, we have to face that, this season it's not been good enough at all it's hard to enjoy, we've got a lot to improve on at the club but we're here at England so it's more focused on that.

While Shaw states that he is still enjoying his football for Manchester United, there are clear vibes in his words that he prefers and finds it easier to play well for his country.
