It's fair to say that most rational fans take transfer speculation with a pinch of salt, particularly when it comes outside the transfer window. As such, you'd like to think that there weren't too many burning effigies outside the Emirates when Arsenal fans woke up to the 'news' that Lukas Podolski could be on his way to Tottenham in January.
Leaving aside the rivalry, it's unlikely Spurs would view a £10 million move for the Germany international as even remotely good business considering his bit-part status at Arsenal. However, once it makes it's way onto the BBC's gossip page, the rumour becomes news and Lukas felt the need to defend his honour with some wildly expressive hash-tag usage. #Poldi indeed.
@BBCSport @Arsenal Hell will freeze over before this transfer would happen. #Poldi #aha #AlwaysAGunner #NeverCheatYourClub #AFC #Redarmy
