Luis Suarez has graciously admitted that he deserves 'some of the blame' for his past predilection towards biting other footballers.

The last arm he took a chunk out of, you'll recall, belonged to the Italy and Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini. Suarez was deeply contrite about this in the direct aftermath, or at least his official statement was. Chiellini, for his part, accepted that apology and even argued that Suarez's ban was too severe.

However, this has not stopped Suarez claiming that Chiellini and other bite victim Branislav Ivanovic are partially to blame for getting bitten.

Some of the blame in the past was mine, some of it must go to the defenders who provoked me.

Chiellini and Ivanovic, for example, are two that wind you up again, and again, and again.

They are irritating, but now what happens is that I provoke the defenders. Before I'd engage in a battle with them, now I walk away.
