The disciplinary hearing into an alleged bite by Luis Suarez on Giorgio Chiellini began last night. The committee that will decide the Uruguayan’s fate met until midnight but nothing was decided when the session was broken up.
Suarez’s international teammates seem to be supporting their talisman. Diego Lugano has again publicly said that the Liverpool striker has no case to answer. Speaking to the BBC, Lugano said,
What incident? I don't know what incident you're talking about. I don't know what incident you're talking about. Are you talking about the Premier League or the national team? Have you got something against Luis?
Suarez has also received the full backing from the president of Uruguay. Jose Mujica said "In football, I was taught that you obey what the referee says.
If we're going to take decisions in football based on what TV says, then there are loads of penalties and handballs you'd have to give that weren't given, so bad luck.
The hearing will continue again today. Check back with us for updates on the story.
