Liverpool ended their miserable run of results with their first win in the league since New Year's Eve. The 2-0 victory against Spurs was also Liverpool's first clean sheet since that 1-0 win against Man City on December 31st.
Going into the game, Liverpool's defensive situation did not appear ideal. With Dejan Lovren out injured, Joel Matip was partnered at centre-back by Lucas Leiva, a player usually seen a little bit further up the pitch in a defensive midfield role during his 10 years at Anfield. Leiva played in defence even with the availability of Ragnar Klavan.
The Brazilian also played at centre-back in Liverpool's disappointing 2-0 defeat away to Hull last weekend. Despite his involvement in that game, Jurgen Klopp kept faith with Lucas - and it paid off.
The 30-year-old was superb, keeping Harry Kane quiet through the game. He was also given a standing ovation from fans as he departed the game with 10 minutes remaining.
Not all Liverpool fans have been so appreciative of Lucas. After the game, buoyed by victory, Lucas went on Twitter to respond to one individual in particular who has been especially negative about him.
Joseph Musker who 'covers Liverpool for @DiMarzio and writes for @AnfieldHQ' and has the not inconsiderable following of 51,400 on Twitter, was Lucas's target.
@Musker_LFC don't you get tired to criticise me mate ? Enjoy the win today and clean sheet .

No response forthcoming from Mr. Musker, Lucas had to say good night.
@Musker_LFC I can see you aren't a proper LFC fan .
Good night— Lucas Leiva (@LucasLeiva87) February 11, 2017
That was not good night, though. 20 minutes later, Lucas has some more words for his detractor.
@Musker_LFC it isn't about one game mate I just think you should support the players and not pray for them not to play . Have a good night
