Louis Van Gaal yesterday became a combatant in one of the internet's most famous games, the non-stop, year round Manchester United v Liverpool pissing contest.
In contrast to his predecessor, who perhaps unwisely bowed the knee to Brendan Rodgers and his team eighteen months ago, Van Gaal knows that throwing some spiky jabs at Liverpool will win him points among the supporters.
We can only presume he was watching Up for the Match in 2011, the night when Mick O'Dwyer announced that he loved Dublin because how could not love a team who you'd beaten four times in All-Ireland finals, for Van Gaal's response to probes about Liverpool's greatness are in that vein.
LVG: "For me, Liverpool is a fantastic club. Because I have won every game against Liverpool."

Elsewhere in the interview, Van Gaal flaunted his hard-to-please diffidence and mastery of understatement, when he merely agreed that Martial's late goal was 'not a bad goal, I think'.
