He's already been up front with who he sees starting the season as his first choice defence and now it seems Louis Van Gaal has outlined his attack as well, with the expectation that Pedro will play a key role.
The Barcelona attacker is seemingly on his way out of Camp Nou and Man United head the queue to sign him up before the end of the transfer window. The Telegraph are reporting that Van Gaal is so keen to tie up a deal for the 28 year old, he has assured him of a starting spot in a three man attack.
If he is to sign Pedro, a bid of €30 million is the only thing that's going to do it.
With money left to spend that buyout clause is unlikely to be prohibitive and it seems the Man United manager has his heart set on an attacking trident of Depay from the left, Pedro from the right and Rooney through the centre.
The interesting thing about this is what it means for the midfield. With a set back four and an idealised front three in mind, that leaves just three midfield positions up for grabs. With Morgan Schneiderlin and a fit Bastian Schweinsteiger to start that means the likes of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini will fight it out for one spot.
That's a situation which Van Gaal will be very pleased with considering his lack of options in midfield when he took over.
