Yes, he may not be a Real Madrid player yet but it looks increasingly likely that David De Gea will be returning to Spain this summer. And now it seems Man United may have finalised their wishlist for they want to see replace him.
The Sun are today quoting a source close to De Gea who has said that not only does the deal finally 'look to be done' but De Gea has already said his goodbyes to his United teammates.
That leaves Louis Van Gaal in an interesting situation. Up until a couple of years ago, Victor Valdes was one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Some may argue with that but he was. His arrival at Old Trafford rang some alarm bells among fans who were worried about De Gea's departure.
Surely Valdes wouldn't come in and be happy to sit on the bench for the next few years. Was the former Barcelona stopper brought in as De Gea's replacement a few months early? Perhaps, but there's another name being heavily linked with the number one spot next season.
Hugo Lloris is, according to a number of sources, the man whom Man United have identified as their primary target to replace De Gea. It's thought around £25 million will be needed to pry the Frenchman away from Spurs with Stoke's Asmir Begovic being suggested as a secondary option if the Lloris deal cannot be done.
Yesterday, the Spurs stopper told L'Equipe that there was no rumoured clause in his contract that would allow him to leave for £14.5 million. Despite that, he did go on to utter the phrase 'you don't know what might happen', so you get the sense if United can stump up the cash, Lloris could well be on his way to Old Trafford sooner rather than later.
