There we were hoping that Joey Barton was just throwing us all off the scent and that he was only dying for a move to the Airtricity League. Unfortunately, it's not to be.
If he wasn't heading back to Marseille, then Barton suggested he'd would be aiming to stay in the Premier League this year and now one of the most high profile free agents left on the market has seemingly got his wish. Sky Sports are reporting that Barton is in London as we speak finalising a move to West Ham.

It's certainly an interesting move for Barton. He has the ability to make a difference in the top division and West Ham are in need of some steel in midfield. On the face of it, it looks like a good move but with Barton you can never predict what will happen from here.
