We all know that Irish supporters make incredible sacrifices to support the team in good days and bad.
But one loyal follower of the boys in green showed a level of devotion last month that puts most regular supporters to shame.
The Evening Herald reports that 'Fat' Freddie Thompson risked death by coming home to watch Ireland play and beat Germany in the Aviva Stadium.
The Herald's source said that 'Dublin is not really the safest of places for Freddie to be, and he took some risk in coming over here.'
Freddie lives in England these days, a decision prompted by his desire to prolong his life.
He slipped back to his relative safe haven across the Irish Sea in the days following the game.
