Looking to put the disappointing end of last season behind them, Liverpool took on Chester City this afternoon in a pre-season friendly full of goals. With a number of players missing for Jurgen Klopp due to their involvement in the World Cup, it was a chance for some of Liverpool's lesser-spotted players to shine - including the first sighting of Naby Keita.
Liverpool vs Chester goals:
Having impressed on loan at Hull last night, Harry Wilson got the opening goal in today's pre-season friendly. It was a while coming, but Wilson's delicate finish was superb.
Sure enough, the second of the Liverpool vs Chester goals came from that man Wilson again. Picking up on a wonderful pass over the top, Wilson left the 'keeper with no chance.
A James Milner penalty gave Liverpool their 3rd shortly thereafter.
The procession continued as the goals continued to flow for Liverpool. Pushing up high on Chester's own kick out, Daniel Sturridge was on hand to finish off the resulting chance well.
It was the turn of Ryan Kent next. A 21-year-old who has enjoyed loan spells with Bristol City, Freiburg, Barnsley and Coventry City, this long-range curling effort was perhaps the goal of the day.
Some quick, sharp passing brought about the sixth goal for Liverpool; Danny Ings doing the business to finish the chance off.
The seventh and final of the Liverpool vs Chester goals came via Daniel Sturridge. Enduring a difficult 2017/18, Sturridge spent the second-half of his season at West Bromwich Albion. However, more of this, and he may find himself back in Klopp's thoughts sooner rather than later.
