Manchester United have won the first domestic trophy of the season at Wembley: they scraped a scantly-deserved 3-2 win against Southampton in the EFL Cup final. Southampton had a perfectly legitimate goal by Manolo Gabbiadini chalked off in the opening quarter, before United went 2-0 up through a Zlatan free-kick and a Jesse Lingard goal.
Southampton dominated from there, with Oriel Romeu slapping a header against the post, but a late Zlatan header broke the Saints' resistance.
In winning the game, Mourinho became the first Man United manager to win a major trophy in his maiden season, and the trophy now means that Manchester United are officially the joint-most decorated club in English football, this being their 41st piece of major silverware.
Previously, that record belonged to Liverpool, as they were clear on 41. That is the case no longer, and in anticipation of a United victory at Wembley this afternoon, Liverpool decided to make a small edit to their twitter bio.
Initially, the bio read "Official worldwide account of Liverpool FC, England's most successful club with 41 major honours", and not, disappointingly, that a retweet does not mean an endorsement.
Now, however, they've pared it back somewhat:
