Liverpool Turn To Exciting Portuguese Winger As Mo Salah Deal Reportedly Breaks Down

Liverpool's transfer dealings have once again sprung a sizeable leak, with Virgil Van Dijk and former Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah reported to be at the top of their list of priorities.

With the news now out there - presumably it didn't come from Liverpool but from elsewhere with the intention of maximising a transfer fee - reports now coming out of the club say that they "won't be held to ransom" over the spiraling fees demanded by clubs.

Reports today suggest that they have been priced out of a deal for Salah - or at least wish to be seen as being unwilling to pay too high a fee for the player.

Roma have apparently quoted Liverpool £40 million for Salah, after rejecting a £28 million offer.

With such discord in valuation, a host of outlets including the Mirror and Sky Sports report that they have opened talks with Sporting's Gelson Martins, a 22-year-old winger who has already been capped by the Portuguese national side.

He scored six times in 32 games last season, but it is evidently his promise and youth that is tempting Liverpool to shell out the reported £40 million that Sporting are demanding.

So it seems that there's a long way to go in that de- oh, look, someone on Youtube has done the Welcome To Liverpool compliation.
