That damn transfer committee. If some fans are to believed, the Committee is a shady group who meet in the highest room of the tallest tower and carefully plot how to bring about the downfall of Liverpool Football Club through horrendous transfer business.
That may be a bit of hyperbole but there's certainly some truth to it. Much of Liverpool's failings over the past number of years has been as a result of the inability to spend the money that has been available to them. The much discussed six man committee is made up of a number of the club's top officials including the chief executive Ian Ayre, as well as manager Brendan Rodgers.
It is up to them to bring the correct players into the club and most fans would say that, for the most part, they have failed in that brief. Most of the flack has come down on Rodgers. However, it seems the club's owners may be pointing the finger elsewhere.
The club’s head of recruitment, Dave Fallows, and the director of performance analysis, Michael Edwards, are reportedly under severe scrutiny. FSG, the American owners, said to be considering their options ahead of a crucial summer in the transfer market and things may change at Anfield sooner rather than later.
According to independent.co.uk, FSG are less than happy with the statistical based model of recruitment that Fallows and Edwards have headed up. Much of the £100+ million that was spent last summer was said to be based on such statistics and as we all know, it didn't exactly go to plan. Despite the role Brendan Rodgers played in that, it seems his position will not be under threat this summer.
