The last Dublin decider was evidently not decisive enough, so Liverpool are now coming back to Dublin on August 5th, to face Athletic Bilbao.
Corporate equivocating aside, Liverpool have acted with uncharacteristic assertiveness to complete the signing of promising Chelsea striker, Dominic Solanke.
The Guardian report today that Liverpool have agreed terms with the striker, as he had become disillusioned with the lack of first-team opportunities available at Chelsea. He has let his contract expire at Stamford Bridge, so Liverpool must pay a transfer fee that will by decided by tribunal as he is younger than 24.
The fee is not expected to exceed £3 million.
Solanke was highly sought after, apparently, with the report saying the Liverpool signed him ahead of "several Premier League and European clubs", RB Leipzig and Celtic among them.
As with virtually every Chelsea youth player, he has spent time on loan at Vitesse Arnhem, with whom he scored 7 goals in 25 appearances in 2015-16.
Here is the contractual Youtube highlight reel set to techno music. Such was the lack of rumour around the signing, the uploader didn't have a chance to change the title to "Dominic Solanke: Welcome to Liverpool".
