Liverpool completed the signing of Japan international Wataru Endo earlier this afternoon, although it is widely expected that he will not be the final midfielder that they bring in before the end of the transfer window.

The club have undergone a major midfield rebuild this summer, with Endo joining Alexis Mac Allister and Dominic Szoboszlai in arriving at Anfield in recent months. As well as that, the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all departed from Merseyside.

Liverpool failed in bids to sign both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia over the last week or so, suggesting they are still in the market for a high priced midfielder. Crystal Palace's Cheick Doucoure is the name most often mentioned in this regard, although it seems as though they are also considering another Premier League cheaper option.

Foot Mercato are reporting that Liverpool are among the club considering a move for Wolves midfielder Mario Lemina before the end of the transfer window.

The Gabon international only moved to Molineux in January, joining from Nice for a fee of around £9million. He also previously had spells at Southampton and Fulham.

The report suggests that three Premier League clubs are interested in signing Lemina, who at 29-years old would likely be available to a reasonable fee. Wolves have also been forced to sell a number of players this summer due to financial issues.

If Lemina is a player that Liverpool is considering, you would imagine that he is seen as a backup option should they be unable to secure their preferred targets.

In any case, it seems clear that Jurgen Klopp is keen to get another midfielder in order to fix the team's issues in that area ahead of a tilt at a top four finish in the upcoming campaign.
