With the Jurgen Klopp era at Liverpool quickly drawing to a close, the club will now be preparing for the arrival of a new manager over the coming weeks.

While there has been no official announcement on the German's replacement just yet, it is widely suggested that Arne Slot will be appointed as the next head coach at Anfield.

The Dutchman has forged a stellar reputation during his time in charge at both AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, with the 45-year old set to take charge of the latter for the final time this weekend. He has publicly hinted in recent weeks that he will take the Liverpool job next season.

Behind the scenes at Anfield, Michael Edwards is likely to have identified a number of potential transfer targets ahead of the new manager's arrival.

One of those players is well known by Slot, and it seems as though he will be a priority for Liverpool over the coming months.

The Merseyside club would have gotten a good look at the Dutchman during the recent Europa League tie between the sides, which Atalanta would win 3-1 over two legs. Koopmeniers played the full 90 minutes in both fixtures.

A 26-year old creative midfielder, he is someone who is well known to Liverpool's next manager. Arne Slot previously coached the player at AZ Alkmaar.

It is suggested that Atalanta will seek a fee of up to €70million in order to sanction the sale of Teun Koopmeiners this summer, with the likes of Juventus, Manchester United, and Newcastle United also credited with an interest in his services.

Bringing in a player that is familiar with Slot's tactical approach would certainly make sense for the Liverpool hierarchy, although they will not sign one of his former players simply for the sake of it.
