The Welsh Xavi, as he has quite incorrectly been dubbed, looks to be on the move to another Premier League club.

Despite being linked with Manchester United, who have apparently decided to pursue the signature of Paul Pogba intead, Joe Allen looks to be on his way to Stoke after Mark Hughes' club had a bid in the region of £13 million accepted for the player with aguably the best beard in English football.

Swansea City had been linked with a move for their former midfielder but the £8 million they offered was well off the Anfield valuation of the player of who has been a bit-part player under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool will be taking a hit of £2 million or so for the player they signed from Swansea for £15 million four years ago or face losing him for free when his contract expires next summer.

To be fair to him, Allen's stock has never been higher after a very solid performance for the Welsh team this summer on their journey to the semi-finals of the European championships and will join what is developing into a pretty darn exciting Stoke City squad.
