Liverpool are investigating claims that one of their youth team players sent a tweet during Thursday's Europa League tie against Manchester United which appeared to mock the Munich air disaster.

20 year old Jordan Williams, who is currently on loan at Swindon, has since deleted his account after the following tweet appeared in response to Liverpool fans celebrating Philippe Coutinho's goal which effectively put the tie beyond Man United.

After what one can presume was some fairly swift criticism, Williams tweeted an excuse and an apology before quickly deleting the account entirely.

My Twitter has been hacked, I would never put anything like that to offend anyone, sorry about this.

That tweet from the Welsh underage international, who has played in central defence and central midfield, came after a fairly fraught affair in and around Old Trafford last night. Five individuals in total were arrested and there were scuffles inside the stadium when Liverpool fans flew a flag in the home section of the East Stand.

Liverpool have not commented publicly on the tweet from Williams' account but it is thought that they are currently looking into the matter.
