It was originally reported in the German publication Kicker at the start of the week and now it's becoming increasingly clear that Jurgen Klopp has identified the goalkeeper that he wants to bring in to provide competition for Simon Mignolet.
The fact that the strangely timid Belgian was offered a new contract not long after Klopp took the reigns was bizarre to say the least. Despite some decent patches of form over the past couple of years, Mignolet has never held the confidence of the Anfield faithful and it doesn't take too much of a footballing brain to figure out why.
As such, it was always likely that Klopp would look to his homeland and their ludicrous riches in the goalkeeping department as soon as the messiness of the 2015/16 season was put to bed. Cue the imminent arrival of Mainz keeper Loris Karius in a deal thought to be worth just £4.7m.
The Guardian are reporting that things have developed further since that initial report in Kicker and the 22 year old could be a Liverpool player as soon as next week. Considering the scouting reports that are coming out of Germany this season, that's sure to be music to Liverpool fans' ears ahead of a summer of significant change at Anfield.
And while we don't like to be so trite, it must be said that Karius is a ludicrously good looking man.
Not that that matters of course when it comes to establishing himself as Liverpool's number one but it's no harm either.
