Liverpool spent much of last summer bolstering their midfield options and it seems as though Jurgen Klopp has no intention of stopping any time soon.
With the departures of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, James Milner, and Naby Keita last summer, and Klopp unable to rely on the perenially injured Thiago, there was a need for serious investment in the middle of the park.
For the most part, the four midfielders signed last summer have won over Liverpool fans. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have become fan favourites, while the Anfield crowd are slowly warming to Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch after both saw less game time early in their stints with the club.
Despite the heavy investment in midfield during the last transfer window, Liverpool have been linked with yet more targets in recent weeks, and the latest rumour suggests that they will move for deep-lying Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.

Liverpool linked with Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup
Danish midfielder Morten Frendrup has impressed many in Serie A this season, with Genoa sitting solidly in mid-table. He ranks among the league's best performers for successful tackles per 90, and has started every single game for the oldest club in Italy, notching up four assists in 18 appearances.
The Liverpool Echo suggest that Jurgen Klopp's side may be preparing a summer move for the 22-year-old to bolster their midfield options - and they may have a headstart on other clubs pursuing Frendrup.
It appears as though Frendrup may have been a Liverpool fan from childhood. Footage from the Serie A YouTube channel late last year finds Frendrup flicking through a collection of photos from early in his career - one of which shows him posing in front of a photo of club legend Fernando Torres in a Liverpool kit.
Perhaps even more telling was his interview in 2018 with Sjaellandske Nyheder in his native Denmark, in which Frendrup confirmed that he is indeed a Liverpool fan and that he dreams of playing for the club (h/t to Liverpool.com for the spot here).
Similarly to Manchester United's reported pursuit of Michael Olise, it seems that financial restrictions may prevent Liverpool from making a move for Frendrup in January, but his form will be closely monitored by the club's fans as the Serie A season progresses.
