Liverpool have absolutely battered Manchester United at Anfield!
The first half of the game was a cagey affair, although the visitors probably had the better of the chances. They would fail to make the most of them, something they were made to pay for when Cody Gakpo found the back of the net just before the interval.

It was always going to be a big test for this United team to see how they responded to that blow in the second half.
It's safe to say they didn't pass that test.
Erik ten Hag's side were nothing short of a disgrace in the second half. Not only was their defensive play abysmal, but their attitude was even worse.
The 7-0 final scoreline in no way flattered Liverpool, who probably should have scored even more goals.

By the time Roberto Firmino scored the seventh of the evening, it was clear that this was one of the most shambolic performances in United's recent history.
It certainly shattered the illusion that the team had fixed all their issues under the new manager.
Roy Keane embarrassed by Man United showing at Anfield
You would have perhaps expected Roy Keane to chewing iron in the Sky Sports studio by the time the game was finished, but he cut a surprisingly measured figure.
Seemingly in shock with just how bad his old side had played, he struggled to even raise his voice.
🗣️ “The big players have really let the club down today.”

The senior players were embarrassing, they didn't show any leadership skills. The goals they gave away were shocking.
It's a tough day for United. Thank god I've never been part of a team that was beaten by that much when playing for Man United.
The players will be embarrassed. There's no doubt they will be ashamed of their performance, especially in the second half when the going got tough. They just went missing...
When you go 2-0 down, you've got to show some sort of fight and spirit. They didn't show any of that.
I could go in hard on Manchester United and of course I will, but I also have to say that Liverpool were absolutely amazing...
I never thought United were back to their very best, they have had some very good results. They have been giving teams chances, even over the last few weeks. Teams have let them off the hook...
The senior players really let the club down today. If I ever got beaten in a game like this at 6-0 or 7-0, you'd go into hiding.
You'd go into hiding. They might go missing for a few days, I'd go missing for a few months. It really is that embarrassing for the players.
What can you? That's the game, they've got to bounce back...
I'm not sure what else to say, I'm in shock!
🗣️ “If you lose 7-0 you’d go into hiding, never mind for a few days I think I’d go missing for a few months it really is that embarrassing for the players.”

A man who was struggling to process what he had just witnessed.
It was certainly a bad day for Manchester United, who suffered their biggest league defeat since 1931.
Erik ten Hag still has a lot of work to do at that football club.
